A Day of Stories and Memories in Clonoulty

Yesterday was truly special! We spent a wonderful day at Clonoulty Community Centre capturing precious memories and stories from the heart of the community. Our morning session featured the incredibly talented Jimmy Donoghue, one of Ireland’s last remaining traditional tin smiths. Jimmy shared fascinating insights into his craft—a skill that has been passed down through generations and represents an important piece of our living heritage. His stories offered a rare glimpse into a trade and a lifestyle that is slowly fading from our landscape.

In the afternoon, we were joined by the lovely ladies of the Young at Heart group, who generously opened up about their experiences and memories. Their warmth, laughter, and willingness to share made for an unforgettable recording session. Days like these remind us why preserving local heritage matters so much. Every story shared is a treasure saved for future generations. A huge thank you to Tipperary Heritage Office for funding this important project. We’re also deeply grateful to the entire Clonoulty community for welcoming us with such warmth and generosity. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue documenting these invaluable pieces of local history!
