Francis Devine discusses the history of the ITGWU from it’s formation in 1908 under Jim Larkin to it’s spread across the country in the aftermath of the 1916 Easter Rising. He introduces notable Tipperary members who had local and national impact such as P.J. O’Brien, the Lewis brothers and Kathleen Cleary, almost unique as a woman elected to branch secretary at the time (1918-1919).
