Part I: Irish Casualty Statistics for The Great War – Tom Burnell

Great War Inside

Military historian Tom Burnell (author of ‘The War Dead’ series and ‘Irishmen in the Great War’) has compiled a list of statistics pertaining to the Irish casualties for World War I, which includes a list of cemeteries where the fallen were buried. In this first part of 5, Tom accounts for the demographics, places of birth, ranks and units of the casualties (Parts 2 – 5, listing the cemeteries, will be published here during Heritage Week, 22 – 26 August).
