Digitisation project update

  • News

The digitisation team at Tipperary Studies have added yet more county final programmes to their website. A remarkable run of sixty-six county hurling final programmes from 1949 to 2017 is now available to view online at   These are in addition to forty-two football county final programmes already online.

This resource is proving to be a great hit with both GAA and family historians alike. Thanks is due to the Tipperary GAA Co Board for their ongoing support of the digitisation work at Tipperary Studies and their kind permission in allowing match programmes to be digitised and made available online. Not all of the hard copy programmes are in Tipperary Studies, as several were handed in for scanning purposes by supporters of the initiative and handed back once digitised. Thanks is due to these people also. There are nine hurling programmes missing from 2017-1949 and as these and others become available, they too will be available online as soon as time permits.
Other items recently added include a rental for the Milton-Damer estate, Roscrea dating from 1787 to 1798. This document is currently being accessed by the Milton Abbas Local History Group, in Dorset, who are researching their town origins.
Also online is a Tithe record book for Ardmayle – Ballysheehan, dating from 1790 to 1801.

Finally, a very unique source of our musical heritage is also online with the addition of sheet music from what appears to be the Kyle Fife & Drum Band, dating from 1882.
