For the past number of months Clonmel Library’s own Tom Flynn has been trawling through The Nationalist researching Schoolboys Football in the Clonmel area, and has published the reports on his blog at tomflynn.net

“Clonmel Schoolboys A.F.C was founded in Clonmel, County Tipperary in September 1970 to provide football for the young boys of Clonmel and surrounding areas. Their history lasted more than 10 years and you will see it unfold here in the form of the notes from The Nationalist newspaper of the time as it tells of the disappointments and achievements of the boys as they  grew into men while playing the beautiful game.”

Tom updates the site regularly and a visit promises to be a fascinating and nostalgic trip down memory lane for any former Clonmel Schoolboy whose younger days were spent doing battle with the likes of Baron United, Old Bridge and Griffith Albion.
