Tipperary Cultural Films
This is a unique cultural enterprise focused on creating a visual record of aspects of the history
and heritage of Tipperary Town & District. It is the work of Mary Alice O’Connor/Long, Caleb
Barrett and Denis G. Marnane, who thanks to Creative Ireland /Tipperary County Council and
Heritage Council funding have, so far, created five films.
Welcome to Tipperary (20 mins) looks at six aspects of that town’s history.
Dan Breen’s Wedding (18 mins) is a dramatic re-enactment of the wedding of Breen and Brigid
Malone in 1921 during the War of Independence.
Tipperary Glove Factories Remembered (43 mins) tells the story of the glove-making industry in
Tipperary town across the 20 th century.
At the Heart of the Revolution (43 mins) examines the role of Tipperary town in the period 1910-
23.
Scenes from a Tipperary Landscape (85 minds) discusses six sites around Tipperary: Lattin
tumulus, St Peakaun’s site at Toureen in Aherlow, Kilfeacle Motte, Athassel Priory, Grantstown
Towerhouse and Thomastown Castle.
