Sale of Cahir Town and Demense

The Encumbered estates sale of the Demense of Kilcommon (Cahir) in 1857. Originally sold along with the Town of Cahir and sundry other estates 1853 by the Earl of Glengall. Details of the sales from Mary Lyons 1993 book ‘Illustrated Irish Encumbered Estates’ show how many big estates were broken up after the famine. The estate sale rental and maps are available online in our digital archives
