Podcast 66: The killing of DI Hunt (1919)
On Monday 23rd June 1919, Detective Inspector Hunt was shot from behind at close range by a member of the 2nd brigade as he walked back to Thurles town center after a race meeting at the outskirts of town. A zealous and competent officer, he had become a thorn in the side of the local volunteer operations and was marked down as a high profile target.
