Podcast 39; Local Government riot Tipperary 1864

The move to increase the remit of Tipperary’s Town council in 1864 was not universally popular. A public meeting in the courthouse boiled over into rioting with stone throwing (naturally) and rat throwing. Some supporters of the move were lucky to escape with their lives.
