Podcast 27; Denis Dowling Mulcahy

Denis Dowling Mulcahy, an Irish Fenian from near Clonmel was arrested in 1865 in the offices of the Fenian paper The Irish People and sentenced to ten years penal servitude. He was released in Gladstones amnesty of 1870 on condition he left the UK for the duration of his sentence and sailed for the USA along with other fenians. He was involved with the Fenian movement there but though he returned to Ireland over the years he settled in New Jersey where he died in 1900.
