George Cunningham Heritage Week Lecture, 21 August

The theme for Heritage Week 2017 is “Nature”, and to celebrate we are delighted to present George Cunningham’s musings on all things tree-related, from home and abroad.

Historian and author George Cunningham has a lifelong interest in trees and has built up a significant tree library as well as being able to travel many places of world famous trees and forests. In this wide ranging illustrative and informative talk he will bring the audience to such places as the redwoods and bristlecone pines of California as well as to many places of tree treasures at home; he will highlight and show important tree publications and discuss the lore of the tree in Irish history.

George Cunningham has authored or edited over twenty books and hundreds of booklets, pamphlets and magazines. His latest book is ‘60 at Roscrea’ commemorating the Roscrea Conference at Mt St Joseph Abbey, 1987-2017. He is a director of Crann, the organisation which it trying to releaf Ireland.

The lecture will take place on Monday, 21 August in The Source, Thurles, at 7.30pm.
