Errington papers
With the library closed to the public I’ve been able to get stuck into working on some of our special collections; the papers of George Errington esq. an absentee landlord with an estate in the Barony of Clanwilliam near Golden in County Tipperary.
The 1876 Landowner’s in Ireland lists his father Michael Errington (Dublin) with an estate of 1,460 acres in Tipperary and George (address, the Stephen’s Green Club) with 177 acres. Among the papers I have sorted is a deed of power of attorney in 1861 between Michael and George.
The collection contains a fascinating mix of legal, estate papers and letters from the Land war period in Tipperary.
