  • News

A recent donation to Local Studies is this copy of a charter from the reign of George 1st.

The charter grants to Edward Riley of Borrisokane the right to hold four annual fairs on the 15th of April, June, September and December; or the following Monday should the 15th fall on a Sunday. The charter also granted the town a weekly Saturday market. The crown rent was set at six shillings and eight pence and was granted on the 8th November 1717
