November lecture; Guarda an Pobal, policing the Irish Free State 1922

Dr John Reynolds is an historian and a serving sergeant in the Garda Síochána had done extensive research on the history of the guards. He has published works on policing in Tipperary such as The Templemore miracles, Violence & Visionaries: 1919 – 1921 in Templemore and 46 men dead@ the RIC in Co. Tipperary 1919-1922.
The lecture covers the founding of the Civic Guard in 1922 and the influence of key figures such as Michael Collins in the development of a new police force for the fledgling Irish Free State.
