Tipperary Star, 1 May 1993
In late April 1993 the Tipperary County Board voted to stage the fourth instalment of Féile in Semple Stadium on the August Bank Holiday weekend of that year. The Féile series of festivals proved to be very lucrative for both the GAA and Thurles Town, but it came with its fair share of controversy and opposition, as was outlined in that week’s editorial in the Tipperary Star.:
“In the light of the experience of the previous years, there is now an enormous responsibility on Tipperary GAA Board to see to it that Féile ’93 is not a repeat of its predecessors in terms of the excesses of behaviour witnessed”.
