Timmy Hyde Snr. (Camas Park Stud)

Timmy Hyde is a well known horse breeder, formerly a national hunt jockey and showjumper who took over operations at the family business, Camas Park, Cashel and has developed it into one of the top breeding studs in the country.

Timmy had many wins as a national hunt jockey including winning the Cathcart Challenge cup at Cheltenham in 1969 on ‘Kinloch Brae‘ and also competed in show jumping events all over the country.  In 1971 Timmy rode Tommy Wade’s ‘Dundrum’ at the Holycross festival (Dundrum came out of retirement for the event). There were huge crowds to see the famous horse jump.

Timmy was second on ‘Bluebird’ in the inaugural show in 1970; he tied for a placing in 1971 on ‘Dundrum’, in 1972 he won on ‘Hitchcock’ and again in 1974 on ‘McGarret’.

Timmy attended every meeting and organised the jumping programme for the show. He was always generous with his time and was on hand to give advice whenever needed.
