Lackeen Castle’s hidden treasure

Lackeen Castle near Lorrha in Tipperary is a late medieval tower house which belonged to Brian Ua Cinneide Fionn, chieftan of Ormond, who died in 1588. It wasn’t until 1735 that the Stowe Missal which the O’Kennedys had hidden here was discovered. The missal was probably produced c.800 AD and was added to in the nearby Lorrha Monastery in the 11th Century
